Bibliography

PubMed/MEDLINEPubMed is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes over 18 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to 1948. PubMed includes links to full text articles and other related resources.

Protein Databases

PDB Database (RCSB) The original and most up-to-date PDB database. Mirrors can be found around the world of this site, though they may not be updated as regularly.

Molecular Biology and Protein Analysis

NCBI Blast (General) The starting point for a range of BLAST (Basic Local Alignment Search Tool) search programs designed to explore all of the available sequence databases regardless of whether the query is protein or DNA.

NCBI Blast (nucleotide) The starting point for a range of BLAST (Basic Local Alignment Search Tool) search programs designed to explore all of the available sequence databases of protein sequences.

NCBI Blast (protein) The starting point for a BLAST (Basic Local Alignment Search search Tool) programs designed to explore all of the available sequence databases of nucleotide sequences.

Dali server is a network service for comparing protein structures in 3D. You submit the coordinates of a query protein structure and Dali compares them against those in the Protein Data Bank (PDB). You receive an email notification when the search has finished. In favourable cases, comparing 3D structures may reveal biologically interesting similarities that are not detectable by comparing sequences.

PredictProtein  is a service for sequence analysis, structure and function prediction. When you submit any protein retrieves similar sequences in the database and predicts aspects of protein structure and function.

Protein Cleavage Tools

PeptideMass at ExPASy cleaves a protein with a chosen enzyme, and computes the masses of the generated peptides.
